Meet Joaco: The Heart Behind Joaco's Sangria

Joaquin "Joaco" Sanz, our founder and sangria maestro, hails from Zaragoza, Spain. This region is renowned for its fabulous wines and is the native home of "Cariñena" and "Garnacha" grapes. Joaco's passion for wine began at a young age, as he grew up surrounded by the rich winemaking culture of his homeland.

After earning his Juris Doctor degree, Joaco's career path took a delightful turn into the world of wine. He started as a Sales & Marketing Director for a new winery, and since then, his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Joaco has managed wineries, hosted captivating TV and radio shows about wine, written extensively on wine and gastronomy, and shared his knowledge as an instructor in sommelier programs for over a decade.

In 2015, Joaco embarked on a new adventure, relocating to sunny San Diego, CA, with his wife and two sons. His vast experience in the wine industry, combined with his expertise in direct-to-consumer sales and digital marketing, led him to oversee Hospitality, Tasting Rooms, and Wine Clubs for wineries in Ramona and Temecula Wine Country. It was here that Joaco first introduced his signature sangria recipe from Spain — a taste that quickly became a sensation, paving the way for Joaco's Sangria and the handcrafted, premium sangrias we are proud to offer today.
